Yikes. I was in Florence in 1968, and the tidemark of the flood were still clearly visible. Good news, however, that the remaining moneys for earthquake repair have been made available - so many Italian cities are treasure troves for us all.
Clear blue skies all of today. Masses of water being pushed through as fast as they dare to clear the decks for next week. Rome and Venice are having a really bad time. Europeans might set aside their political differences and recognise their extraordinary heritage via some supranational but extra-EU prganised response to threat, natural or man-made.
