Curtains for Gordon

The collapse of the deal between EDF and the sale of sites in England for nuclear power stations and waste disposal, which was to have been signed today, is the latest in Jonah's loss of power. The trouble seems to be about how much EDF has to put upfront and how many of the sites currently graced by closed-down and clapped-out nuclear power stations EDF would have been able to exploit in dealing with French nuclear waste.

If the man can't even sell nuclear contaminated land for hard cash he really is in trouble.

Your title raises an interesting topic. Fabric and pattern? Floral chintz, perhaps?

Brown would want the fabric of society, S. That would be from a Heal's original resonating with arts and crafts motifs, glazed chintz (though that is always a worry as it must be dry cleaned not laundered - but then he never did mind taking society to the cleaners) in the gloomier, muted versions of abstract patterns merging into one another, rather than the Chimese reds and brilliant greens with cockatoos and formlised trees and flowering branches on clean cream grounds.

(Sometimes I wonder if I don't like Gordon Brown).

There is a fatally seductive element to Eeyore. Resist it, for misery not only loves company but recruits it.

I like the "fabric of society" quip; perhaps torn, for verisimilitude?

By the way, have you considered joining us at Bloghounds?

It's the putting of the punctured balloon in and out of the honey jar, S. There's even a picture.

The full coven of Hatfield Girls will be here this evening, and I will ask if we might apply. This blog really is just a piece and paper and a pen, and thoughts (while doing other stuff).

Maybe his brother couldn't guarantee him a job on the board when he gets his P45?

Same as the rest of us, then. Do come and join the party.

My money is on Gordon getting a directorship at EDF when he is booted out...
