Alone

"The formal transfer [of Denmark's responsibilities to the Iraqis and the British], takes place today (Tuesday) in Iraq," said Army Operational Command ."A small ceremony will be held with a parade in Basra ."

Defence Command Denmark stated two thirds of the battalion have already left the base and military equipment has been taken to Kuwait.

The Danish army is not revealing all troops' final departure date for security reasons "but everybody will have left Iraq and Kuwait within the next two to three weeks and will be back in Denmark again".

British troops are now in tented , surrounded enclaves, in temperatures at inferno levels, without competent air cover, and without allies in the whole of southern Iraq, except for guerilla-infiltrated Iraqui 'security' forces. They haven't even the luxury of 'a final departure date', that is too dangerous to those left temporarily behind to cover the retreat, to be announced; they haven't even been left the Danish military equipment.

Whose army is Labour's leader sending to Darfur?

Does your title consciously echo Low's cartoon of June 1940 ( http://www.msses.ru/shanin/images/verywellalone.jpe )?

"Mood the more, as our might grows less".

S, it seems clear there are links between cartoons and posts: both must communicate so much in a single take, and be self-contained, and evoke the audience's set of references (even remote links the reader might be surprised to call up) and those in in many medias, or from long ago, or very diverse fields.

Our history book was interspersed with famous cartoon; my particular favourite was a villainous Labour figure with a cudgel held behind his back being asked by a gentlemanly Liberal 'Are you going my way Sir' and the Labour villain smirking, with a sly aside 'and a great deal further'.
At the time I didn't realise these were all very famous, just thought how clever the cartoonists had been to so catch so much in a sketch.
Oh, and Yes.

I hear that in Afghanistan our marines aren't even afforded tented accommodation - they live in exposed ditches inside military compounds not just when outposted.

Such abuses of our armed forces.

It's surprising anyone goes into the services any more EK, considering the battering they've received since 1997. And the denial of proper funding, equipment, orders, even objectives.

Hats,

Still posting on the other link - sorry!

Scrobs, all the things I say are about the same thing really, from different angles, the seizing of power in the UK by a bunch of lawless thugs who will change anything and everything to keep it and reward themselves and their 'Party'.

Our lives are being variously and at varying levels and speeds, changed utterly.

I mentioned the policy of the denial of redress on the scones woman's thread.

Excuse ignorance, who's the scones woman?

The head of the Environmment Agency , sorry Sacks, her title takes a lot of typing - the thread lower down.
