The last UK rabies fatality was in 2001. There was concern about potential infiltration by foaming-at-the-mouth red foxes, but nobody spotted Tony at that time!
Is it not true then, S, that rabies is not British? When I brought the cats I had to have fully up-to-date certificates on their rabies status for France, Switzerland and Italy. I remember being surprised as they were travelling from England, and assumed it was because we were passing through other countries to our destination. Now I wonder again. Over fierce laws lead to law-breaking, and the quarantine regulations must have led to a lot of dodging by incoming animals.
