Would it be treasonable to suggest that individuals should not consider themselves bound by EU laws and treaties? It's not in my name, for sure.

Italy is living the effects of long distance lorries blocking the motorways in protest at high fuel costs and high taxation right now ND. There are food shortages in all major urban centres, fuel shortages everywhere, long queues for essentials and the government has precettare'd the drivers (I'm not sure of the exact equivalent of precettare, rather like put under martial law).
The higher the level of interdependence the easier and more destructive is sectional interest disruption.
It could be argued that the primary purpose of government is to hold the ring. We all know what sort of ring we want to be in - advanced capitalist pluralist democracy, and altering that should be put wholly out of bounds as a function of the state, not of governance. Unfortunately there is no proper distinction between the state and governance in the UK any more, not least because Labour has been demolishing it for the last decade.

S, where the UK stands vis a vis EU institutions and authority is very iffy. William Hague was pretty clear that tomorrow's signing had doubtful status in the UK; though for the EU it is enough to have their Constitution unvetoed by the UK on this the last occasion when it could be vetoed.

He's going, but will be late, and therefore will sign it on his own. One assumes that as he seems unable to go to EU gatherings, that in his guise as Gorgon Brown his visage is to horrible to be seen.

Lots of new stuff announced this morning on PMQ, re Afghanistan, all roundly contradicted by a serving officer just now, as being a) what Bliar promised this time last year & b) none of it having been delivered.
