President Bush should have refused steadfastly to see him.
The $700bn US bank bailout was today left in chaos after the House of Representatives voted down the plans.

I feel that the normal law-abiding citizen in Cannery Row will just stare into the middle distance, puff on a corn cob pipe, and admit that they know nothing of Wall St, The White House, Grand Central Station etc etc, and all the shenanigans that go with pudgy politicians telling them what to do and wagging their fingers at them on TV.
This is where a politician will be tested to the limit over there, as they know about the same as the good citizens of Cannery Row - except that they have been in the trough for longer.
I'm afraid the good citizens will vote with their consciences, and that the troughers will have to take quite some flak over the coming weeks.
It'll take a strong Obama case to see this coming, and McCain will have an awful job on his hands in a few weeks time...
Maybe 'boyish charm' will prevail this time, but that happened when Clinton began to stand up (?), and was counted!
Oh yes; he was counted right enough!
Ha ha ha ha ahahahahahahahah !
Lots of plans and narratives scrapped last night, Scroblene, they have to convince those voters.
Such a contrast with us; we just get told what our money is to be spent on. Nice to own part of B&B as well as Northern Rock - just what I've always wanted to own. And three quarters of the expenditure in the North East is tax money too. I'd rather spend it in the more enjoyable parts of the country - down near Lilith and Elby and E-K, if it can't be used in Bloomsbury, or a nice Channel bridge to France, but no, its pouring into Easington and Bingley.
Just let us get at those ballot papers.
