Defending Democracy Means defending the Nation State

A  'vision of creating a global institution to help reconstruct countries where civil society was broken; a global environmental organisation to tackle climate change; and a global financial system which serves the people.'  is a vision of dystopia, of  undemocratic progressive,  unreachable elites administering the lives out of us.  

Speaking to academics, international development campaigners and supporters in Milton Keynes, the Saviour of the world and Leader of the Labour party went on to declare that he wanted to provide more [enough already, ed.] support to international development agencies.

"What people say is impossible and beyond our reach can happen,".  [not if we can help it, ed.] 

'Mr Brown used images of World War II, the Holocaust, Apartheid in South Africa, Ethiopia, Rwanda, the Balkans and the Congo to illustrate what he said was a continuing progression of worldwide values towards a more compassionate and 'global society'.  (Telegraph).  [if you're not scared now there's no scaring you, ed.]

No-one could call Tony Judt right wing.  This most distinguished of historians whose clear-eyed and magnificent  grasp of the history of our times is always from the viewpoint of a humanitarian, enlightened, individualism informed by a grasp of collectivist philosophies and what can be achieved by state action.  Here he speaks of attempts to end democracy and the nation state:

'We have no good reason to suppose that economic globalization translates smoothly into political freedom. ...China (like many other Asian economies) is not just a low wage country - it is also and above all a 'low rights' country.  And it is the absence of rights which keeps wages down ...meanwhile depressing the rights of workers with which China competes...'

'When banks fail, when large scale corrective action is called for... there is just the state as we have known it since the 18th century.  That is all we have. ...'

'Populations experiencing increased economic and physical insecurity will retreat to the political symbols, legal resources, and physical barriers that only a territorial state can provide. ... wages, hours, pensions and everything that matters to the working population of a country are still negotiated - and contested - locally.  With the strains born of globalization and its attendant crises, the state will be called upon with mounting insistence to resolve the tensions that result.  As the only institution standing between individuals and non-state actors like banks or international corporations: as the sole regulatory unit occupying the space between transnational agencies and local interests....'

'..just as the intermediate institutions of society - political parties, trade unions, constitutions and laws - impeded the powers of kings and tyrants, so the state itself may now be the primary 'intermediate institution': standing between powerless, insecure citizens and the unresponsive, unaccountable corporations or international agencies.  And the state - or at least the democratic state - retains a unique legitimacy in the eyes of its citizens.  It alone answers to them, and they to it.'

The state here discussed is, of course, the nation state, not the nanny state which, in truth, is merely temporary government.  It is this 'state we have known since the 18th century', that globalists and their mad prophets use temporarily stolen power to undermine.  

Now we can vote brownism out, deprive him of our nation state, push back the delusions of an unhinged usurper of our democratic mandate.   Certainly there are global forces but there is no  global governance under democratic control.  What there is,  the corrupt and grossly out-dated vehicles of post 1945 power settlements - the UN, the G whatever numbers, the EU,  posing as the apolitical, evolutionarily and morally superior  successors to the means and defence of our democratic politic and our individual freedom, should be rejected by all our citizens.
