Pope Benedict XVI is to give an audience to Gordon Brown in Rome on Thursday.
Mr Brown's spokesman told reporters that the 'British' prime minister was travelling to Rome primarily to meet Mr Berlusconi, currently chairman of the G7 group of industrialised nations. He has made it clear (to use New Labour-speak) that the Vicar of Christ will be fitted in before the Italian prime minister.

Once on sovereign Vatican territory what are the chances of him being seized and extradited to somewhere where they punish criminals properly ?
None, banned/compulsory, he will buy himself a plenary indulgence on the cheap. Plus a prior absolution of the sins he has not yet committed. Precedents are not encouraging.
