As the great Natalie said some time ago in this context, "Go Private. Now. You fools."
It is their only defence and the only way to preserve their quality.
I am astonished that not even the greatest of them is contemplating this.
Judging by the tenor of the communications I receive these days from my own Alma Mater, it's possible they are contemplating it, but they need to move much much faster, otherwise there will be nothing left to save.
