Never mind aluminium tariffs, what exactly, word by word, did Peter Mandelson say to George Osborne about Gordon Brown? And what did he want from doing it?
If he wanted Brown's downfall to be given a further push then whatever he said that would help in that widely supported and popular objective should be given to the rest of us to help in the collective effort.

Yes, I think we should be told :-)
And if we are not to be told, then we must imagine. I shall start imagining now!
Gordon Brown knew all about selling seats in the UK legislature; after all, he was able to make Mandelson a member of the Upper House over a weekend. And selling stuff successfully, without comeback, is all about delivery dates. Blair failed to deliver for at least four candidate members of the House of Lords. So he lost it.
And it was reported that Brown told Blair 'You are going to get into problems over this', and stormed out, when discussing peerages (ie., seats in the UK legislature) and donations to the Labour Party. So he knew.
Possibly HG, but don't you think it might equally have been about rocking horses and nappies? (Sorry to lower the tone)
