Running like a darker thread through the morass of the New Labour counter culture ideologies is the exposure of the undefended to sexual exploitation.
When personal moralities are foisted upon social and cultural morality by the use of empathetic reinforcement among small groups validating the denial of of social morality, by the undermining of those institutional supports for social morality, such as the Christian church, that have wholly other vulnerabilities exploited by the onslaught, by the use of office to further agendas nothing to do with the purpose of that office, and by the rigorous interpretation of rules and of regulation meant to be indicative and capable of sensitive interpretation, then we know we are facing something wrong that requires instant attack and curtailment.
'Chris' Keates, general secretary of the National Association of Schoolmasters and Union of Women Teachers, has declared that teachers should not face jail for having sex with pupils who are over the age of consent. 'Clearly there has to be appropriate disciplinary sanctions in the school where a teacher works to make sure that inappropriate relationships don’t develop, but it does seem a step too far - when there has been a consensual relationship - to put that person on a sex offenders' register when in fact, they could have a perfectly legitimate relationship with an 18-year-old still enrolled at another school.'
The membership of the National Association of Schoolmasters and Union of Women Teachers needs to dismiss her, or resign from their Union en masse.

Well said HG. If they can perfectly legally have a relationship with a 17 or 18 year old at another school then perhaps that is what they should be doing instead of preying on their own pupils over whom they have influence and power.
School students are off limits for teachers. Whatever school they might attend, and whatever school the teachers teach in.
Nasty old men and women joining in the joys of youth by using power and authority given for other purposes is very New Labour.
When you discard morality & a sense of right & wrong, what is left is the letter of the law. Consensual sex over the age of 16 (whether hetro homo or some other) is not illegal, and to try to stop it would be an abuse of their 'human rights'
Not being illegal is one of the sustaining pillars of New Labour ideologies and pratices.
At the moment the betrayal of trust in seducing school children is illegal, but that's what is being called into question by this particular sector of New Labour aparatchiks.
There is a gross element in the Acupuncture teaching world HG where the teachers feel free to pick new partners from their students. In some colleges the entire faculty found their current squeeze in this way, having discarded several try-ons. Learning acupuncture involves a lot of introspection and consequent self discovery and the students are exposed and vulnerable and in terrible awe of their teachers. They ARE adults, but I believe this leads to a ghastly nepotism and insular reality in the colleges and a sense of entitlement amongst the staff.
Learning "involves a lot of introspection and consequent self discovery and the students are exposed and vulnerable and in terrible awe of their teachers.", L.
But when they are still in their parents' care, in their parents' home, and so feeling safe and protected, to find that they are being groomed and seduced by those who are entrusted with their formal teaching is horrifying. When it then emerges that the cultural acceptance of this exploitation is being put forward by a major school-teaching union which is part of the New Labour zeitgeist, it becomes the absolute, individual duty of every school-teacher to reject it, or they will have accepted it.
It isn't pleasant to post about this. It isn't my area of expertise in terms of making the arguments. It does not touch me with personal immediacy if school teachers are in predatory pursuit of their pupils, for none of our family are at school currently. But the children are all of our children. And if we will not stand up for the weakest in the most despicable of exploitations, then what have we become in our retreat into privacy and abandonment of the country and its cultural morality to its fate?
I know, HG, and I am sorry for going off topic. It is wrong, wrong, wrong.
I don't know why the Unions are even giving time to this discussion. It makes them look sick. Don't they have more pressing concerns other than whether or not they ought to be put on the sex offenders register for sex offences?
'Grooming'
I'm glad you used that word, HG. To think that a teenager had NOT been groomed when having sex with a teacher a day after her sixteenth birthday would be naive in the extreme.
I feel that there is a definite push to enable sex to take place younger and younger.
It's quite perverse - why does the subject even need to be discussed ?
You pinpointed the aspect of learning that renders our children vulnerable to their teachers, which could not be more on topic, L.
And it's not just 'her' E-K, is it?
How far has this self-reinforcing group expressing their culturally and socially abnormal goals grown that it is now able to have its views voiced by the head of a major teaching trade union?
And how immoral are the New Labour enabling cultural mantras that such a movement has swollen from criminal offence to demands for social recognition?

My brother is responsible for blowing the whistle on this tawdry little affair. I can't go into too much detail of what is entailed.
And you're right - not just 'she'.
Your brother is brave Kev.
The "authorities" like to shoot the messenger in these cases, and will generally do nothing unless embarrassed into action.
Thin little slice by thin little slice, HG.
