Torture Commission Deletes En Masse and Unread EMails Requesting Craig Murray Be Heard

From Craig's blog:

Emails sent by members of the public to the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights were deleted by the committee without even being read. Two people who happened to have enabled tracking sent me the following two automated replies they received:

Your message

To: Joint Committee On Human Rights
Subject: Craig Murray:
Sent: Fri, 6 Mar 2009 20:51:41 -0000

was deleted without being read on Fri, 13 Mar 2009 10:46:42 -0000

and

Your message

To: Joint Committee On Human Rights
Cc: craig murray
Subject: Torture evidence on 10 March
Sent: Thu, 5 Mar 2009 14:47:36 -0000

was deleted without being read on Fri, 13 Mar 2009 10:46:42 -0000

Note the identical time of deletion. Evidently people's emails were not even deleted individually but selected as a group and deleted en masse.

This is a shame because there was no template and people made some very telling individual points. Plainly people put time and thought into attempting to participate actively in a key part of a supposedly democratic process. It is a disgrace that these emails were deleted unread. Is the UK really a democracy now?

This is what the Secretary to the JCHR writes. But nothing is easier than marking messages as read/unread.

My guess is that the messages were read and saved, and the senders' names and addresses were carefully noted for further reference. Then all those messages were re-marked as unread and deleted en masse.

But now they know where we live.

They may know where we live. I have no problem with that, nor with the fact that my opposition to this government is vocal and fierce.

They need to know we will not stand for them. Stand up, Caronte, and make you voice heard. Talk to your local MP and candidates, find out what they feel about NL's assault on our liberty, and make it clear we will stand for no less that true freedom.

To precis - fuck 'em.

I shall be re-sending my email, and this time copying it to our local MP, the estimable David Heath. I shall add to the original email what you write, HG, if that is ok.

Extra impetus to get a shotgun. Was in Longleat the other day, down the road from us, checking out what the walking was like for dogs.

Crap in fact, as it leads on all the time. Bar a short walk from the car park towards a fantastic view over the bowl that the house sits in, and westwards for 180 degree sunsets.

Couple of minutes down the path, and Pig shoots off into the undergrowth. Deer, think I, as he picks them up by scent. Not that long later, I hear an animal screaming. My immediate thought was that he'd sprung a deer, chased it across the not so far away road, and got hit. However, it carried on, so I legged it as fast as I could, to find Pig attached to the hind leg of a deer, which was making the racket.

Obedient dog that he is, he let go as soon as I yelled at him; deer seemed to get away OK, but I would think it has a nasty wound in the leg, having had a terriers' jaws fastened on it for a minute or so.

Pig had blood on his head and coat, which I managed to transfer to my hands, so we looked a right sight when we got back to the van.

Whilst I am no sure the Marquis Of Bath would appreciate me poaching his deer, if we were hungry...

Digressing gently, we had a haunch of wild venison from Calfy's useless (well, mostly) father a while back. Fed six of us steeped in wine, and Pig got some leftovers.

He'd also had a bone earlier in the day. Now, bone produces white dog turds. Venison, black ones.

Pig produced a zebra crossing turd the next day. Cross my heart...

Use anything written here Elby, honoured.

But was it the six of you steeped in wine or the venison?

I have given, Elby.

Did anyone really expect honest open government?

All of us, as well as the venison, soaked in wine, HG :-). We left off the bones, though

Here's what I sent the JHCR. What my father, a great writer of complaining letters would have called a "Lieutenant-Colonel's letter", bless him.

In the light of what you can read below, relating to the instant deletion of mail to JCHR with regard to Mr. Murray presenting his evidence regarding torture, I am re-submitting my original mail, which received no acknowledgement whatsoever. I have also copied this to my MP, Mr. David Heath, so that he is aware of your disturbing and unconstitutional behaviour.

May I remind you, members of the JHCR, that you represent us, and that WE PAY YOUR SALARIES.

In other words, you work ON OUR BEHALF. Please make sure, therefore, that

a) This email is acknowledged.
b) Its contents are taken seriously.

Your truly,

Jeremy Poynton

Blog post appended to that. Who the F do they think they are?

Dear Elby, may I make your comment a post? Looking at Craig's blog posts on torture is like looking at a portrayal of the destruction of our democracy.

(Writing about torture is very frightening. I have to scan anything very quickly in case there are descriptions of what is being done, which I cannot cope with at all. It's like arguing fiercely and with total conviction with half your mind veiled. Necessary but unbearable knowledge is dreadful to cope with.)

Thank you for this example of how our masters work. They purport to Consult us on many things yet this is what they do.
Keep up the good work.

Is the UK a democracy now?

This is a silly question, is it not?

A country with an unelected leader can hardly be called a democracy.

A country whose government allows it to be subsumed into a foreign entity without even consulting its citizens, cannot be called a democracy. Especially when the reason for not consulting the citizens is the certain knowledge that they would not agree.

A country whose leaders impose onerous and intrusive surveillance measures while exempting themselves, can hardly be called a democracy.

Need I go on? We can all think of more.
